RUAG test system for self-protection systems wins the Red Dot Award

Emmen - The aerospace engineering and defense specialist RUAG has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024 for its missim MK3. The wearable all-in-one test device for self-protection systems in military aircraft is used to simulate cross-spectrum threat scenarios.

The missim MK3 developed by RUAG has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024. The official award ceremony is set to take place on June 24, 2024, at the Red Dot Museum in the German city of Essen. «The award motivates us to continue developing innovative and high-quality products that meet our customers’ requirements and are both user-friendly and sustainable», as Gregor Schedlbauer, Portfolio Manager for missim, explains in a press release.

The missim MK3 is a wearable test device for self-protection systems. It simulates complex cross-spectrum electronic warfare threat scenarios. With the handy device, which is made up of both hardware and software elements, users can independently verify the functionality of built-in self-protection systems before taking off in a military aircraft or helicopter. According to RUAG, this allows reliable go/no-go decisions to be made prior to the start of each mission.

According to the information, since its introduction in 2008 the test system has been established around the world. It is continually being further developed in terms of functionality, user-friendliness and quality. The third product generation was recently launched on the market and is available in various versions. RUAG is set to present this and other products at the aerospace trade fair ILA Berlin, which takes place June 5-9.
