Salt Lake City International Airport to install Schindler systems

Ebikon LU - Schindler has been awarded a major contract from the USA. Salt Lake City International Airport has chosen the company based in the canton of Lucerne to supply a total of 169 systems. These include elevators, escalators and moving sidewalks.

Salt Lake City International Airport in Utah, USA, is currently being redeveloped and modernized at a cost of 4.1 billion US dollars. For this renovation project, 169 Schindler units will also be installed at the airport, details of which can be found in a press release issued by the mobility solutions expert from the canton of Lucerne. In the first project phase, 126 systems have already been installed. These include 65 elevators, 31 escalators, and 30 moving sidewalks, while the remaining 43 units will be fitted at a later date.

The Schindler systems installed at the airport are all equipped Schindler Ahead, a pioneering IoT (Internet of Things) platform and digital products portfolio. According to information in the press release, this will ensure that maintenance activities and fixing malfunctions is a much more straightforward process.

The modernization project at Salt Lake City International Airport should be brought to a close by 2024. It is then likely to be used by up to 34 million passengers each year. As part of the redevelopment, five concourses are additionally to be merged into two larger ones connected by a passenger tunnel.
