Schindler Elevator expanding in Canada

Ebikon LU/Toronto - The Canadian operation of lift manufacturer Schindler from the canton of Lucerne has acquired Ascension Elevating Devices Ltd. (AED). Expanding its presence into Atlantic Canada will lay the groundwork for the future growth of the Schindler Elevator Corporation in the area.

Schindler is focusing on enhancing its presence and growth in the provinces along Canada’s Atlantic coast. According to a press release, the Canadian operation of the Schindler Group, Schindler Elevator Corporation with headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, has acquired Ascension Elevating Devices Ltd. (AED) to this end. AED is based in the nearby coastal city of Saint John. The company specializes predominantly in elevator modernization, service and repairs within the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The company was founded in 2010 by David McKenzie. He and other members of the AED team will join Schindler.

AED chose Schindler since “it aligns with our values of integrity and trust and shares our commitment to providing the highest level of quality and service experience,” said David McKenzie, founder and President of AED. As part of a global company, Schindler and AED will be able to expand their product and service offerings.

With the acquisition of AED, Schindler will extend its operations into the east coast, explained Lisa Konnry, President of Schindler Canada. Positives highlighted by Konnry include now being “positioned to offer our products and services to our existing national customers, coast to coast”.  Schindler Canada wants to enhance the customer experience “by adding Schindler’s high quality, new installation products and maintenance tools to AED’s offering, while maintaining the high level of quality in the field operation”.

Schindler Elevator Corporation (Canada) is the Canadian operation of the Schindler Group, based in Ebikon with approximately 70,000 employees operating in more than 100 countries.
