Schindler growing profitably
Ebikon - Schindler from the canton of Lucerne increased both its revenue and profit in local currencies in the first quarter of 2025. The operating profit margin also improved year on year. For the year as a whole, the global elevator manufacturer hopes to achieve low single-digit revenue growth in local currencies.
The Schindler Group generated global sales of 2.73 billion Swiss francs in the first quarter of 2025, as the specialist company for escalators, elevators and moving walkways from Ebikon said in a press release. When compared with the previous year, this equates to growth of 2.5 percent in local currencies. The order intake increased by 6.0 percent in local currencies over the same period to 2.95 billion francs.
Operating profit in terms of EBIT increased to 329 million francs, representing an increase of 13.4 percent in local currencies on the first quarter of 2024. The EBIT margin was therefore improved by 1.1 percentage points to 12.0 percent. Net profit of 257 million francs was reported, up from 232 million francs in the same period of the previous year.
«Schindler started the year with a robust performance in the first quarter as order growth accelerated, and margins continued to expand with another uptick in operating cash flow,» said Schindler’s CEO Paolo Compagna in the press release. «We stay focused on our strategic priorities while, at the same time, maintaining vigilance given the volatile macro environment, especially regarding the softening market indicators for the Americas.» For 2025 as a whole, Schindler predicts sales growth in the low single digits. An EBIT margin of around 12 percent is also projected. For the mid-term, the Group reconfirmed its objective to reach an EBIT margin of 13 percent.
