Schurter launches prismatic supercapacitor

Lucerne - Schurter has launched its new prismatic supercapacitors. The ultra-thin components from the SCP series can be integrated into a wide range of energy storage and switching systems. They also work at low temperatures.

Schurter has launched a new series of prismatic supercapacitors. The Lucerne-based company, which specializes in developing and producing electrical and electronic components, designed the supercapacitors in the SCP series to be compact and ultra-thin, according to a statement. This reportedly makes them suitable for installation in energy storage and release systems.

The supercapacitors are available in three versions. The SCPA, which operates in a capacity range from 35 to 1000 millifarads, is super-thin at 0.4 millimeters and is designed for use in space-limited applications that require high performance.

The SCPB operates between 90 and 2400 millifarads, and is primarily designed for long-term installations. There is also the SCBC, in the range of 120 to 2400 millifarads, which is suitable for energy-intensive applications with high temperature resistance. Due to their low equivalent series resistance (ESR), all three supercapacitors perform very well in electronic applications, according to the company.
