SeetalSolar becomes first member of the Swiss Solar Group

Retschwil/Kägiswil/Zurich - The two Swiss investment firms moyreal holding and blue8 have invested in SeetalSolar. The photovoltaic specialist from the Seetal valley region of the canton of Lucerne has therefore become the first member of the newly founded Swiss Solar Group AG in Zurich.

The Zurich-based, climate-focused investment firm blue8 and moyreal holding ag, a company based in Kägiswil in the canton of Obwalden whose sole shareholder is the billionaire Eva-Maria Bucher-Haefner, have invested in SeetalSolar. According to a press release issued by blue8, this investment will make the solar power specialists from Retschwil in the canton of Lucerne the first member of the Swiss Solar Group AG, which was only founded last December.

The AMAG heiress Eva-Maria Bucher-Haefner sold her 50 percent stake in the automotive group back in 2018. Since then, her net worth has been estimated at around 4.5 billion Swiss francs.

The Swiss Solar Group project is presented on the blue8 website. According to this, it all began at the home of the founders of SeetalSolar, Anka and Bernd Voigt: “It quickly became clear that SeetalSolar and blue8 share the same goal: More solar on the roofs of Switzerland. The joint solution is the Swiss Solar Group, of which SeetalSolar is the beginning”.

Many other solar companies are also set to join, with the corresponding acquisitions already in the pipeline. In addition to pure photovoltaics, the portfolio of the Swiss Solar Group will also include smart energy management, storage solutions and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

In the words of Anka and Bernd Voigt, this collaboration is something of a “stroke of luck for our company and our industry”. They explain that with blue8 and moyreal holding ag, the company has found the kind of partnership that it had always imagined. “We are absolutely convinced that it will lead to an even more successful and sustainable boost for our industry”, they conclude.
