SHL and Swiss Food Research launch innovative pilot project

Zurich/Lucerne - The innovation network Swiss Food Research and the hotel management school Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern (SHL) are launching a joint pilot project. The focus of this will be on product development activities for sustainable, future-oriented foodstuffs.

SHL, a hotel management school based in Lucerne, is joining forces with the innovation network Swiss Food Research to jointly develop new food products. The joint pilot project is set to start at the beginning of the new semester and, according to a press release, is intended to assist the product development of sustainable and future-oriented foodstuffs. The aim of this partnership is to promote innovation in the Swiss food and hospitality industry and to offer start-ups an iterative product development process together with chefs and an audience well-versed in sensory experiences, the press release explains.

The focus of the pilot project will be on close collaboration between chefs and SHL students, innovation experts from Swiss Food Research and start-ups, as SHL writes in the press release.

In addition to product development, the partnership should also facilitate market research with an audience that knows a thing or two about sensory experiences. In so doing, the partners can ensure that the products developed meet the needs and wishes of consumers.

“This collaboration between SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern and Swiss Food Research is pioneering for the next generation”, comments Josef Jans, Director of Business Development & Innovation at SHL, in the press release. “Not only will our students gain valuable practical experience, but it will also help to further establish Switzerland as an innovation leader within the food and hospitality sector”, he adds.

“We are really excited by the opportunity to share our expertise and that of the SHL with our members, in order to more rapidly establish sustainable developments on the market”, comments Lucas Grob, CEO of Swiss Food Research.
