SHL takes on World Tourism Forum Lucerne

Lucerne - The SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern is the new owner of the World Tourism Forum Lucerne brand. SHL will use the brand to expand its international activities. The previous owner of WTFL AG is to be liquidated.

The SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern is the new owner of the World Tourism Forum Lucerne (WTFL) brand. It is taking over from WTFL AG, which will be liquidated, as was reported in a press release. The coronavirus pandemic took its toll on the international tourism industry, with the WTFL also suffering and closing its doors at the end of January 2022.

The hotel management school SHL has been running the English course of studies “Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management” in cooperation with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts since 2019 and is expanding its international activities by acquiring the established brand. The organisation wishes to become more involved in the establishment of hospitality schools abroad, strengthen its consultancy in service marketing and management and at the same time organize more international events at home and abroad.

“We can use the brand, which is very well established in the market, to help SHL progress even further in its international endeavours,” said Christa Augsburger, Director of SHL. Martin Barth, the founder of WTFL AG and former CEO, will contribute his expertise and fantastic international network in the future.
