Emmen - SME Technik has started work to expand its production hall in Emmen. It is expected to provide space for up to 60 jobs. The specialist for CNC manufacturing is investing a sum of 7 million Swiss francs in this expansion project. Cerutti Partner Architekten AG is responsible for planning and construction of the energy-efficient building.
SME Technik AG from Emmen in the canton of Lucerne has broken ground in the construction of its new company headquarters. By building the new production facility, the CNC manufacturing specialist is seeking to strengthen its location in the canton of Lucerne, as detailed in a press release. The investment of 7 million Swiss francs will result in a three-story business and production center, while 60 new jobs are expected to be created too.
The building, which includes a production area of 1,200 square meters and 1,110 square meters of office space, is designed primarily to optimize CNC manufacturing of small parts or series production for the aviation and railway industries. The first step will involve the installation of two new CNC machines. The company is expected to move into the new building in spring 2026.
Cerutti Partner Architekten AG from Rothenburg, also in the canton of Lucerne, is responsible for planning and construction of the project, which focuses on sustainability and energy efficiency. In order to ensure resource-saving operation, a photovoltaic system and air/water heat pumps have been installed in the roof.
«With the new building, SME Technik is creating a modern workspace that appeals to both existing and future employees» comments Jan Kottucz, investor, owner and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SME Technik AG, in the press release. He adds: «At the same time, with the use of new equipment installed in modern production halls, we will be able to manufacture CNC parts for our customers at the highest levels of precision and in line with Swiss quality standards». Ramona Gut-Rogger, Mayor of Emmen, sees the fresh investment of SME Technik in the site as a «strong signal for the future of our business location».
