Space centers in Lucerne and Zurich collaborate

Root/Dübendorf - The Lucerne Space Systems Innovation Platform and the Center for Space and Aviation in Dübendorf in the Swiss canton of Zurich intend to collaborate in the New Space Economy. Together they plan to leverage strengths that Switzerland already possesses: precision, talent, stability, excellence in research, and industrial depth.

Two major Swiss hubs driving the emerging New Space Economy have officially announced a strategic partnership: the Center for Space and Aviation Switzerland and Liechtenstein (CSA), based at Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich on Dübendorf airfield, and the Space Systems Innovation Platform (SSIP), which operates out of the Technopark Lucerne in Root in the Swiss canton of Lucerne.

The statement from the SSIP reads that this alliance stands for research and execution, for science and industry, for infrastructure and innovation, as well as for national and international cooperation: «At a time when the global space economy is entering a new phase from isolated missions to scalable orbital infrastructure, Europe needs strong, execution-oriented ecosystems capable of transforming ideas into real industrial capability.»

Together, the CSA and SSIP aim to strengthen sectors of the space economy and provide an international framework for cooperation. Among these sectors are life sciences, artificial intelligence systems and digital twins, cutting-edge industrial innovation, and pathways linking research and industry.

«Switzerland has all the ingredients,» continues SSIP in the statement. Namely, «precision, talent, stability, research excellence and industrial depth. The next step is orchestration.»
