Start-ups enable sustainable test center

Horw LU – A new COVID-19 test center has been created at Zurich Airport. The Bern-based start-up ender diagnostics is providing the tests. The start-up RecycleWorks from Horw in the canton of Lucerne has constructed the center from reusable partition walls.

A new COVID-19 test center went into operation recently at Zurich Airport. According to a press release, this was made possible by two start-ups.

The tests were provided by ender diagnostics ag. The start-up based in Bern produces COVID-19 rapid tests and develops global solutions for test centers and vaccination centers.

Meanwhile, the test center’s partition walls come from RecycleWorks GmbH from Horw. The start-up develops and produces reusable partition walls that can be put together without the need for accessories. They are made out of honeycomb cardboard from the Swedish company Re-board. Walter Küpfer, CEO of RecycleWorks, explains in the press release: “We actually develop and manufacture in Switzerland. However, the material consciously comes from Sweden as three new trees are planted there for each one felled.” Using this product, the start-up has already won over companies such as McDonald's and Starbucks as well as the Swiss army.

Bertrand Landel, Head of Business Development at ender diagnostics, states: “Using RecycleWall’s products, we have discovered an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional partition walls.” Due to positive feedback, further joint projects are now being planned.
