sustAInos shopping assistant impresses at Digital Days

Lucerne - The team sustAlnos has won #herHACK for its smartphone add-on for sustainable shopping at Migros. The #herHACK format is part of Digital Days, which is organized by digitalswitzerland. This edition focused on the proportion of women in the technology sector.

The Lighthouse Event marked the end of Swiss Digital Days, organized by the digitalswitzerland location initiative. During the closing ceremony at the beginning of December in Lucerne's Museum of Transport, the artificial intelligence (AI)-based application sustAInable shopper was chosen as the winning project of #herHACK. It is a smartphone add-on developed by sustAInos for sustainable shopping at Migros, according to a statement from digitalswitzerland.

#herHACK, now in its third edition, aims to increase the proportion of women in digitalization. The sustAInable shopper shopping assistant came top of 32 teams. The AI tool is set to revolutionize grocery shopping at Migros, according to the statement. Its «AI-supported add-on» can be used to analyze shopping behaviour in terms of sustainability and carbon footprint. It also harmonizes purchasing decisions with the user's «stated sustainability preferences». This allows users to receive «a personalized sustainability performance metric».

Numerous events were held in the run-up to #herHACK in 2023, including three regional networking events and six training workshops. In November, a total of 162 participants took part in a hackathon. Out of 32 teams, six made it to the final.
