SWISS KRONO Group acquires Argolite AG
Menznau/Willisau - Argolite AG is joining the SWISS KRONO Group. By acquiring the manufacturer of laminate panels, the Group aims to develop synergies and continue on its growth path. Argolite remains legally independent and all jobs at its Willisau site will be retained.
The Menznau-based SWISS KRONO Group has acquired Argolite AG, a manufacturer of HPL panels. Both companies are based in the canton of Lucerne. According to a press release, the restructuring is set to create more opportunities for «synergies and growth in an increasingly competitive market». The acquisition also demonstrates the Group’s commitment to its location in its home market. «This step enables SWISS KRONO Group to significantly strengthen its position as a Swiss interiors and property business and develop its expertise in the HPL field,» says CEO Martin Brettenthaler.
Argolite has been manufacturing laminate panels since 1953, and these are now traded as HPL (High Pressure Laminate) in accordance with the EN438 quality standard. The press release explains that Argolite will remain legally independent and will be expanded and developed «to a healthy degree». The Willisau site will be retained, as will all employees. Argolite states that it employs 75 members of staff and two trainees.
«By remaining an independent company, Argolite will retain its values, philosophy and spirit,» says Markus Höchli, owner of Argolite AG. Rolf Wermelinger, who previously acted as his deputy and was head of sales and marketing at Argolite for many years, has been appointed site manager. «Mr Wermelinger’s appointment sends a clear message that Argolite AG will continue along its already successful path and that nothing will change for customers,» says Roger Braun, site manager at SWISS KRONO.
