Tapping into international talent: Mentoring programme connects skilled professionals with the Lucerne job market

Lucerne - A new mentoring programme supports skilled individuals with foreign qualifications in starting their careers in Lucerne – through workshops, application training and personalised guidance by experienced mentors.

Since May 2025, SmartTalk and FABIA, the Lucerne Competence Centre for Migration, have been jointly implementing a new career mentoring programme in the canton of Lucerne. The aim is to support well-qualified individuals with foreign degrees in entering the local labour market.

The programme targets people with residence status B, C or protection status S who have at least B1-level German skills. It combines knowledge about the Swiss job market, application training and individual support by experienced mentors from the region.

Companies also benefit: they gain access to motivated and well-prepared candidates with international qualifications. In addition, professionals interested in sharing their experience are invited to take part as mentors.
