Thermoplan on track for sustainability

Weggis - Thermoplan has achieved its emission reduction target over the past year. Additionally, all suppliers were assessed in terms of their sustainability performance. These are two aspects of the Sustainability Report 2023, which has now been published by the manufacturer of fully automated coffee machines.

Thermoplan AG has published its Sustainability Report 2023. CEO Adrian Steiner states in the foreword: “At the heart of our efforts is the circular economy, which is highlighted as the focus topic of this annual report.” The manufacturer of fully automated coffee machines has achieved its goal of reducing emissions. A press release calls this an important milestone in the company’s sustainability agenda.

Steiner adds that Thermoplan’s sustainability efforts have been driven by a “long-term goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.” An interim target is a reduction of 50 percent by 2030 versus 2019.

With regard to material optimization, the report cites its successful efforts to gain a new plastic with recycled content and with emissions as low as possible. Additionally, Thermoplan has ranked its suppliers in terms of their sustainability performance to optimize the supply chain. In the production rooms in Weggis in the canton of Lucerne, the introduction of LED lighting has led to energy savings. Furthermore, the company’s employees are using the free electric vehicle charging stations more frequently.

Thermoplan officially opens its new building called “unique” in June 2024. It is the company’s fifth plant and is LEED certified. The aim is to achieve platinum LEED certification.

According to CEO Adrian Steiner, Thermoplan has not achieved its 2023 energy saving target for machinery and for the Weggis site. He adds: “However, we have done important groundwork for the Weggis site with the planning of the photovoltaic expansion and the energy concept. We are determined to further increase the energy efficiency of our products in the coming years.”
