Thomas Gasser appointed as COO of the wholesaler Pistor

Rothenburg - Thomas Gasser will take over as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the wholesale firm Pistor in May 2026. The 45-year-old brings experience as a logistics and supply chains expert. Most recently, he was COO of Brack.Alltron AG. Gasser is now set to replace Richard Betschart, who is stepping back into retirement.

Thomas Gasser is set to join the wholesaler Pistor, which is headquartered in Rothenburg in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, in the role of COO from May, as detailed in a statement. Up to now, he has worked in the same role for Brack.Alltron AG, a trading company from Mägenwil in the canton of Aargau that operates the Brack, Alltron and DayDeal brands, among others, with sales of 1.16 billion Swiss francs.

Gasser studied at the University of St.Gallen, IMD Lausanne and the Harvard Business School. Prior to joining Brack.Alltron, the logistics and supply chains expert worked for Migros over many years. «With this expertise in automated logistics systems, broad management experience and valued-oriented personality, he is an exceptional fit for our company», comments Daniel Eichenberger, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pistor, in the statement.

Gasser is set to succeed Richard Betschart, who has served as Head of Logistics and management team member at Pistor for 19 years. He will enter retirement in June. Eichenberger expressed his appreciation for Betschart’s work: «Thanks to him and his team, Pistor has innovative logistics and the most efficient supply chain on the market».

Pistor operates as a wholesaler specializing in bakery, catering, hospital and home supplies. In 2024, the company generated sales of 827.1 million Swiss francs, according to the annual report. The corporate group comprising Pistor, Proback AG and Fairtrade SA is fully owned by the cooperative Pistor Holding Genossenschaft.
