Young Global Shapers set the tone for a sustainable future in Lucerne
Lucerne - For three days, Lucerne took center stage for the Global Shapers in the DACH region. More than 80 members of the network of young talents set up by the World Economic Forum collaborated on topics for a sustainable future and explored the region for themselves.
More than 80 young “Changemakers” from the German-speaking DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) have had the opportunity to experience what Lucerne has to offer during the Shapers United Lucerne event hosted by the Swiss city from August 15 to 17. After Salzburg and Heidelberg, this biannual meeting of the generation actively shaping change was organized in the city situated on the banks of Lake Lucerne on this occasion.
The Shapers United Lucerne event was planned and realized by the Global Shapers Hub Lucerne, which is part of the Global Shapers network comprising young talents aged 18 to 33 initiated by the World Economic Forum. This network is made up of 500 hubs in 150 countries. Since 2020, the members of the Lucerne hub have demonstrated commitment to social issues and sustainability, with a particular emphasis on mental health services and on creating fertile grounds for new start-ups in the city.
The gathering in Lucerne was held under the motto “Rising Together”. According to a press release, Roy Müller, CEO of the Zurich-based eMarket Group, offered practical insights during workshop sessions into employer branding and the “New Work” concept. Celina Zuberbühler, member of the Global Shapers Hub Lucerne and program director of the 2point engineering Tüftelpark based in Alpnach in the Swiss canton of Obwalden, moderated a discussion focused on Artificial Intelligence skills and prompting.
Phil Weber, former curator and impact officer of the Global Shapers Hub Lucerne, who now heads up the Neue Energie Luzern office and entrepreneur active in supporting the digital and sustainable transformation of the construction industry, invited participants to contribute innovative ideas for an internationally scalable concept aimed at involving communities in the priorities of local government.
In addition to professional activities, another important part of the event was enabling a shared experience of Lucerne and the wider region. The agenda included a boat trip, city walking tours, sporting activities such as Pilates and a running club, lakeside fun and a joint dinner on the Stanserhorn mountain.
